Can we just talk about the Weasleys for a minute? I love this scene so much. It really showcases the love this family has for one another. Look at them. They are forced to spend the holiday in some dirty old house with a horrible house elf, Mr. Weasley almost got killed a few days earlier, Percy is basically M.I.A and Bill and Charlie are never home, yet they all have smiles on their faces because they’re together and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley want to make sure that their children have the best Christmas regardless of what’s going on in the world. How many years have the Weasley children received knitted jumpers and other garments over the years? Probably ever since they were born-yet they still have huge smiles on their faces as they open their gifts because they know. They know their parents can’t afford to buy them presents each year and they don’t whine and complain about it. If you listen closely in this scene, you hear Mrs. Weasley say to Ron “It’s just want you wanted, actually” and he just smiles at her and says “Yeah,” even though we know that he doesn’t really care for it because he says so later. That’s why Hermione is smiling so lovingly at him. He would never, ever let his mother know that he probably will never wear this vest in public, but he’ll pretend it’s his favorite article of clothing to make her happy. God, I love this family so much.
